Join me in this virtual space, where we will exchange beautiful stories of life, love, and victories of Filipinos worldwide.

The idea for The Grateful Tita was born during a casual conversation with a group of friends who, like me, were approaching midlife. Someone posed a simple yet profound question: If there’s one positive trait you’d like to cultivate more in your life moving forward, what would it be? Without missing a beat, I answered: I want to learn to be more grateful.

It grew in me, and true enough:

“There is always something of which we can be grateful for!”

The Grateful Tita is an online lifestyle blog for the migrant Filipinos. Here you can find beautiful stories of the Filipino’s hope, love, and courage in their everyday life abroad. It is with these stories that we aim to:

Encourage and empower

Experience is the best teacher, we all agree on that. Pero hindi lang mga personal nating karansan ang pwede nating paghugutan ng mga aral sa buhay. The experiences of other people can also greatly inspire us to achieve more and be more. Pwede tayong matuto sa pagpupursige at tagumpay ng iba kung magiging mapanuri at bukas ang ating isipan.

Inspire you to slow down and cultivate gratitude.

We know how driven and motivated the Filipino spirit is. Our strong drive to succeed stems from our personal or shared experiences of trials and challenges. We will provide tips and encouragement on how to take refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, appreciate the moment, and feel more about the life you are living.

Encourage you to live your best life.

The best of our lives are happening right here, right now and we want to live it. To be at your best, you must feel at best from within. We will provide you with stories and tips on how you can make small changes to take control of your life and happiness.

Since moving to Switzerland from the Philippines in 2014, I’ve learned to embrace and appreciate the simplicity of life that this landlocked country has offered me. I live in the watch city of Biel/Bienne, nurturing our small household, handmaking and DIY-ing as many things as possible, and growing flowers and vegetables in our garden.

After years of developing programs and policies for different private organizations in the Philippines for most of my professional career, I’ve embraced a new path. I have reinvented myself as a handmade business owner and a proud advocate for slow living and a life rooted in gratitude.

The Grateful Tita and the community it hopes to inspire are my heartfelt efforts to continue my transformation—becoming a storyteller of gratitude and curator of inspiration for my fellow Filipinos abroad.
